and use the retail version, NOT the CD software which came with the computer.Ģ- Update to the latest version of 10.5.8ģ- Install Photoshop CS2 or, if you use CS3 or CS4, run the programm with Rosetta. Maybe my experiences are helpful for all of you who don't want to invest in the overprized Silverfast software or to get nuts with vuescan.ġ- Make a clean reinstallation of 10.5.

Yes we Scan with Nikon 4.0.2 and Leopard on an Intel iMac!Īfter a few months of trouble and anger I finally found out how to use my Scanner LS9000 ED together with my preferred Nikon scan software Nikon is not willing to update. Guess I spoke too soon, as a few days later I now I get data transfer errors I got 170 scans in no problem on my 9000ed Haven't had to do this until I recently updated to 10.5.8. (I wish I would have saved my presets externally vs deleting off HD) The first option to your link worked perfect

Now if I could only figure out why it cannot render autumn reds properly. Your mileage, of course, may vary, but at least it worked for me. Last night I scanned 20 Kodachrome slides with it, from my LS 50 (Coolscan V)-no trouble at all. I installed NikonScan (4.02 I think) on it-no trouble during the installation. As it is I now shoot manly digital, my LS40 will produce beautiful cans but it does take a certain amount of time and patience. I could could get a modern, good quality fast scanner that runs on modern computers, well I'd be shooting a heck of a lot more film. Surely the future of film is partly dependant on scanning technology? It is a shame that when some film manufactures are stating that they are fully committed to the future of film you then find it's almost impossible to get a modern affordable desk top scanner. I've not tried this yet but will do soon.

I have been told however that if I install the free version of vuescan, then install Nikon 4, Nikon 4 will then run fine. I've got Vista 64 and there's still no support for my Nikon scanner. Jg_in_seattle edited this topic ages ago. Here's a petition about getting it to work on OS X 10.5: Thanks, it's been working for me, but there are some glitches. It's a shame that Nikon won't help us out. Silverfast is pricey, and VueScan lacks control. I spoke to the Nikon reps today at a photography trade show and despite the pleas of their consumers, it remains completely unlikely that there will be a new version of Nikon Scan. I'm glad there's a way to get things going under Leopard. Originally posted at 6:47AM, 13 February 2009 PSTĬool! I have been keeping an XP machine around mostly for the Coolscan and for random tech support things that I can't do with my MacBook. Thanks to MPerson who posted the original thread and p0cket-paul. I hope this saves a lot of you a lot of heart ache, as it has me. I followed the advice to the letter and the first method worked first time. sent me this LINK to a post on the Leica Camera Forum which, on the face of it, sounds so obvious, I don't know why I didn't try it in the first place. I begrudged having to spend the extra hundreds of pounds on SilverFast, and as Nikon had seemed to have washed their hands of the problem I gave up looking for a solution and just gritted my teeth when I needed to do any scanning. I'd resigned myself to using VueScan in the meantime and, while it takes a little while to get used to, it has served me well, albeit a little temperamental and somewhat clunky compared to Nikon Scan. I read countless forums written by many members having the same problem and no-one seemed to have a solution. Having bought the scanner only a £ew months before, I was very disappointed to hear that Nikon had no intentions of updating their software to run on the new OS. It would 'unexpectedly' crash every time I tried to start it up.

When I bought my new Intel Mac around ten months ago the Nikon Scan 4 software that was supplied with my 9000 ED no longer worked. Is anyone still having problems using the supplied Nikon Scan 4 software on their Mac with Leopard?
